This book, you guys. I am so pleased that I'm reading this series this year, because wow it's so wonderful.

"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, more the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend."

The Two Towers is split into two parts, Book 3 and Book 4. I found myself reading the first half, Book 3, a bit more slowly than the second half. Part of that might have been that it followed characters I wasn't quite as invested in, though it definitely introduced new characters that have become new favorites! I loved any chapter that included the Ents.

The battle of Helms Deep, also described in the first half, felt a little hard to follow at first, but I understood most of what was happening. The reunification of some of the fellowship members was very rewarding.

The second half of the book!! WOW. Gollum was portrayed SO WELL in films. I can picture him perfectly in the book, I adored the chapters he was in. I devoured Book 4 in just a few days, it kept my attention so well. Sam's increasingly more frustrated tone with Gollum had me rolling. The end of the book had me nearly pulling Return Of The King right off the shelf, haha.

"And here he was, a little halfling from the Shire, a simple hobbit of the quiet countryside, expecting to find a way where the great ones could not go, or dared not go. It was an evil fate."

The Two Towers was a wonderful entry in this story. Another 5 star read from me. Beautifully written prose and expansive world-building. I'm definitely going to be finishing the saga in the next month or so!
